I am a firm believer that its not, what do you guys think?

It's a sport, but it is very stupid and for rednecks.

its not a sport, just like 30 rednecks drivin around in circles

saying its 30 rednecks driving around circles is not only lazy, its ignorent and lame...

I dont know what it is exactly, but i know its classified as a sporting event..

You have to stratagize and time things right, its a very dangerious competition.

People can die doing it, its intense and takes great skill to do some of the things they do.

Plus half the guys arent rednecks so stop sterotyping.

Plus, its always fun to see a 20 car wreak at Talladega.

You have to strategize in Checkers, does that make it a sport?

You can die in a plane, does that make flying in a plane a sport?

It takes great skill to type fast, does that make it a sport?

It involves no physical skills, so there is no way that its a sport. Your points are completely invalid.

Nascar cars can get up to 150 degrees, even hotter on a hot day.... That alone makes it amazing they drive around in those things for hours on end...

I dont think that would do much...Its mostly because of the extremely heavy(As in thick and hot) suits they have to wear

there is no AC in a NASCAR...they are stripped of all modern amenities for weights sake...

Naive people like the ones who posted in this thread dont understand how hard it is to drive a race car, It is NOT easy driving a car 200 MPH while having to worry about the 30 other cars that could lead to your death and sweltering in heat and knowing one bad turn and it could mean your life.

Racing is definetly a sport and your stubborn to think otherwise.

That doesn't make it a sport... you worry for your life in a lot of non-athletic things.
